= Al= icja ‘s fight is our fight.

Alicja Tysiac , a young polish woman, suffer= ing from a very serious visual handicap , has been refused the right to have an abortion for medical reasons = in spite of her handicap. This story shows the tragic situation of women who , today in Europe, are deprived of their fundamental rights.

Alicja has won her trial against the polish government in front of the european court of justice in Strasbourg who acknowledged the non respect of her individual ri= ghts . But she still has to face pressure and threatens from the radical catholi= cs.

In Poland, but also in Ireland, Cyprus, Malta, Andorra and now in <= /span>Lithuania, women are exposed to the same restrictions or are forbi= dden to abort. In many other countries this right is endangered by the increase = of religious fundamentalisms.

Concerning the sexual and reproductive rights, as = well as other rights, we demand harmonisation of legislation about women’s rights on the most advanced level and we appeal to the feminists of all european countries to write letters, = to ask for audiences, to organise delegations to the polish embassy of their countries in order to express this demand . We ask them to keep us informed= of their actions and the results they get.

The european feminist movement represents a social force of criticism working to build another= Europe, democratic , secular and anti-militarist. Let us join our forces&nb= sp; against obscurantism and regression of our rights.=
